The Posthuman Trilogy is complete!

Updated: Sep 16

I have finally completed the trilogy!

It is set 20 years after the previous book and concludes Tom and TikTak's journey.

This book series has been a journey for me. I jotted down my first thoughts about this story over ten years ago. I found the first entry in my idea journal on the 7th of April 2011.

And, yes, I do have an idea journal. I know Stephen King famously stated, “A writer’s notebook is the best way in the world to immortalize bad ideas,” but I respectfully disagree. It is a first attempt at crystalising an idea, a concept, a story beat. You may return to it later. You may not. But this raw download onto paper is the first time you force yourself to create order out of chaos. It is in this process I find concepts that might live with me ten years later.

The journal entry laid down the bare bones of the Drug, Adrian and what it means to be more than human.

“He calculates every outcome of his life and none of them provides him with any satisfaction. He has lived all his lives before they have even started. So what do you do then? His first thought is that such knowledge does not create a God. Calculating every outcome and choose between them, always knowing you’d be right. How could complete and utter knowledge fulfill anyone? If God really had this power, he’d do nothing. If thought and reality could be exact replicas, what’s the point of reflecting the thought in reality?”

The seed I planted in my notebook grew. Nurtured by many of my favourite themes: the juxtaposition of mind and machine, organic and inorganic, philosophy and science.

And now it is finally complete.

One chapter finishes...another begins...
