I love all the new technology on display at CES 2025. I especially like the weird and wonderful gadgets that are on display. Check this link out for a number of them.
I even love the weird and wonderful ways manufacturers try and sell these items to us.
Case in point, the Saros Z70 pictured above. Here is the sales pitch from Roborock's website:
Introducing Saros Z70 — the first mass-produced robotic vacuum with a foldable five-axis mechanical arm for an elevated cleaning experience. This innovative arm allows the Saros Z70 to move obstacles out of the way and clean areas previously blocked, ensuring no spot is left untouched. It performs simple household tasks and even serves as a companion, all while maintaining Roborock’s pioneering features in an industry-leading, ultra-thin 7.98 cm design. It’s your home helper, companion, and assistant — whatever you need it to be. Welcome to a new era of robotic vacuums.
I have questions...so many questions...
The arm? It has been pre-programmed with 108 different items, and you can define where these go. For example, the white plastic clogs pictured above can be put in the bin where they belong.
What are the simple household tasks it performs beyond barely vacuuming the floors? Does it set the table? Serve drinks? Cook a meal? Launder money? The website decided not to dwell on this.
It serves as a companion? I know when I come home after a hard day at work, my preference is - as I'm sure we all do - to sit down and spend some time with my vacuum cleaner. And I'm glad we now have one with an extendable arm so it can give me the finger when need be.
It is my assistant? Doing what exactly? I could imagine programming it to chase the cat around and poke it with its extendable arm whilst saying "Exterminate" with a Dalek voice. But apart from that?
What is your favourite weird and wonderful CES item?
